Pre-Ordering Appears Active Once Again

Dead Island 2 May Be Un-dead

Back in 2011 we saw the release of the first Dead Island and a sequel was stated to be in development soon after. While Dead Island Riptide did follow with a 2013 release, a proper sequel, Dead Island 2, was also revealed to be coming through a very memorable announcement trailer that came out in 2014. Since then there has been periodic news that made it seem like the game would never see the light of day, but as of this writing, Dead Island 2 now appears on the Xbox Marketplace as an item available for pre-order with a slated December 2019 release date.

The Island wasn't dead enough, apparently.

Deep Silver Drops Yager from Dead Island 2 Development

Dead Island 2 was noticeably absent from E3 this year. We spotted the beginnings of the title last year and had high hopes for what the game would do in the hands of a brand new developer in Yager Interactive. But alas all was not well with the game's publisher Deep Silver not happy with the direction or progress of the title, sending along an official statement on the development status.

2015's motto is now "See you in 2016!"

Dead Island 2 Delayed Until 2016

2015 is tossing another one of its biggest tent pole games to it's slightly younger brother, 2016. Developer Yager announced via their Twitter page that Dead Island 2 would be delayed until sometime next year. Maybe they need to take another year of speculation on why it's called Dead Island 2, when it takes place on the continental US. That's not an island, people! That's like making a game called Dead Caverns and setting it in a dimly lit parking garage.

Dead Island 2 Was Made for Co-Op

The most surprising thing about Dead Island 2 isn't the scenic Californian setting, or the up-beat soundtrack, or even the wacky tone in contrast to the first game's solemn feel. Learning DI2 features eight player co-op, though? That's pretty weird. I don't know even one other person that would willingly vault into a zombie-infested sector of the West Coast, let alone seven.

[E3 2014] - Dead Island 2 Is Wacky and Potentially Awesome

A few months after the events of the first Dead Island, the infection spread to the continental United States and the state (island?) of California has been quarantined by the government. While the zombie outbreak is under control in Dead Island 2, there are still uninfected humans inside the quarantine zone. The catch here is that these uninfected...

[E3 2014] - More Co-Op Zombie Looting in Dead Island 2

Deep Silver publishing has released a few Dead Island games since the initial one hit back in 2011 with a trailer that was equal parts terrifying and poignant with a soundtrack that was evocative of the TV show "Lost." The FPS zombie killing co-op loot fest is back in a direct sequel, Dead Island 2, with a trailer that's a little more upbeat and comical, but just a touch disturbing and subversive in its own right.
